At Consultants in Cardiology, a multidisciplinary team approach will provide you with the most comprehensive cardiac care. An integral part of our team are our physician extenders, who are specifically trained in cardiovascular health. Our physician extenders are all Masters prepared practitioners and are Board Certified by the State of Michigan. Physician extenders are licensed to provide complete physical examinations, health assessments, treat common acute illnesses and chronic stable medical conditions, provide health counseling and education, and medication titration. All of our physician extenders work in collaboration with the physicians of Consultants in Cardiology.
Patients of Consultants in Cardiology will encounter our physician extenders working along side of our physicians in the office and in the hospital setting. The physician extenders are also a vital part of our Coumadin Clinic and Lipid Clinic.
At Consultants in Cardiology, patients who require the “blood thinning” medication Coumadin are managed in the office by our physician extenders. The Coumadin Clinic provides instant laboratory results with specific medication instructions and education by specially trained extenders. By providing immediate results and counseling, we help minimize patient’s risk of a thromboembolic (blood clot) event or encountering the side effect of bleeding and maximize the benefits of the anticoagulation therapy.
The Lipid Clinic (Cholesterol Clinic) at Consultants in Cardiology is also managed by our physician extenders in conjunction with our physicians. The Lipid Clinic focuses on dietary and lifestyle education, analysis of laboratory results, and medication titration, instruction, and information to help minimize cardiovascular risk with controlling patients’ cholesterol.
