OUR NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGISTS ARE EXPERIENCED AND REGISTERED BY THE NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST BOARD AND THE AMERICAN REGISTRY OF RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGISTS-NUCLEAR MEDICINE. WE ARE ACR ACCREDITED.
Nuclear Medicine Technology involves the use of tracers, called radiopharmaceuticals, to create images of organs and study body functions. These are administered to the patient either orally or intravenously. The tracer concentrates in a specific organ or organ system and then our scintillation camera can detect the tracer. The camera produces a computer image of the organ which allows the Radiologist to study the structure and identify any disorders which may be present. The radiation dose is small and the patient experiences little or no discomfort during the procedure.
The following nuclear medicine exams are performed at our facility:
BONE SCAN (whole body, limited area or 3-phase)
LIVER/SPLEEN SCAN
RENAL SCAN/RENOGRAM
THYROID UPTAKE & SCAN
HEPATOBILIARY SCAN with or without Ejection Fraction CCK
GATED BLOOD POOL STUDY (MUGA)
THALLIUM TREADMILL STRESS TEST (Sestamibi, Myoview, or MPI)
ADENOSINE STRESS TEST (LEXISCAN)
